Wondering what to paint next, Georg took a model and began to draw. One day the model fell asleep, and he wondered what would happen if he came closer – "within smelling distance" as he would come to say. He was amazed and excited by the changes in perspective. ¨"I just move my head a few inches to the right or left, and am rewarded with an entirely new female landscape." Georg would continue to use this closeup perspective for this rest of his artistic life.
