California
Southern California in the 70's, a time of rebellion, hippies, war and peace symbols. Georg did not lack for models, and continued to find new variations on the theme of women, horizons, and the curving stripes of the Mexican sarapes. Although his paintings found a welcome audience both in California and in Puerto Vallarta where he continued to exhibit, Georg bécame discontented and felt that his work wasn't the best it could be. In 1974, when he discovered a mountainside property with views of the mountains and Lake Chapala, he couldn't resist the opportunity to purchase. The Rauch's new Mexican home was bullt long distance over the next two years. When Georg and his wife Phyllis returned to live in Mexico in 1976, a new life and new artistic inspiration began.
